Common Parent Questions

When does registration begin?

Registration for Summer begins early January (this date will be determined in the Fall and announced on this page and on our Facebook page). Although you may want to log in and establish or update your account ahead of time to expedite your registration process.

What if I decide to unenroll?

Prior to April 1st you may make any changes to your enrollment that you like. We ask that all changes be made by either emailing or calling our office. Please note that failure to may your enrollment fee does not equate to unenrolling. Please note that should you choose to completely unenroll the deposit is non-refundable.

How much does Day Camp Adventures cost?

Tuition for Summer 2025 is $215 for a complete week or $50 per day (with a 2 day minimum each week that you choose to enroll).

Which site is the best?

Well that would be like asking us which one of our kids is our favorite (and if you ask our kids, they would tell you that it’s the dog anyway).

We believe that all 6 sites offer great experiences for our campers, otherwise we wouldn’t offer them. DCA has been operating for over 20 years and we choose locations carefully. We are also grateful to the City of Clive for partnering with us as we use their parks. We appreciate that they recognize that we take great care of the parks that we visit.

How can I make a payment?

Payment can be made by cash or check weekly at the park. We also have families that set up autopay through their bank and have it mailed directly to us. Payment can be made by credit card from your account.

When you log in, click the three bars next to Reservations and then choose Make a Payment. We also have a Venmo account that we can use @DayCampAdventures. (If you choose to use Venmo please make sure that the Turn on For Purchases is UNCHECKED. Otherwise Venmo will remove a percentage from your payment as a fee and we will not receive the full payment.)

Please note that payment is due by the first day that a camper is enrolled each week. Additionally, the first week’s tuition is due when a camper is initially enrolled for the season.

What if I need a receipt for my flex spending account? Do you have a Tax ID Number?

Our Tax ID number is 26-0018826. Receipts can be printed at any time by logging into your account and doing the following:

  • Click on the three grey bars by Reservations.
  • Click the + sign by My Account
  • Choose Finances
  • Choose Print a Statement
How old do you have to be to attend DCA?

Our campers are entering Kindergarten in the fall through entering 7th grade. However, the bulk of our campers tend to be K-5.

What if the site that I want is full?

If you are certain that you want to be a part of DCA, we would encourage you to quickly enroll in another site to ensure that you have a spot. You can then email us to be placed on a waiting list for the site or sites that you were wanting.

We can’t promise that we will be able to move you to that site; however, the closer that we get to April 1st we often do have “shifting” that happens to our enrollment. Many times we are able to make that placement.

We would also encourage you to familiarize yourself with our locations. We often hear “we can only attend ____ (site) because of where we live”. Please note that even though many of our locations have Clive addresses they may in fact be closer to your home or work than you think.

Sometimes families end up at their “second” choice and then end up loving that site so much that they continue to attend that location year after year and never end up choosing to go to the site that they originally thought that they had to have.

If you aren’t able to secure a place at your first choice we would encourage you to keep an open mind about our other sites and counseling staff. Trust us, they are all wonderful.

Registration fills up quickly, how do I mark the days that I want in time?

We would encourage you to quickly select the weeks that you want – even if you don’t want every day, just click all week. Then once you have checked out completely and secured your reservations either go back in and edit to remove the days that you don’t want – or the easier way? – email us and tell us what days you want removed and we will do that for you.

What if my child needs to take medications during the day?

If your child will need medication dispersed during the day, please discuss this with a counselor when your child is dropped off. The counselor will write down dosage amounts and times and will be responsible for the medication throughout the day.

Will any of the field trips involve swimming? What should my child bring for swimming?

With weather the way it is in Iowa there will be many days when we are swimming or participating in water activities. Please consider your child’s swimming ability and feel free to send along a life jacket if desired.

Also, it is helpful to dialogue with your child and our counselors as far as what you believe to be your camper’s true swimming abilities. Our counselors are in the pool with our campers and very attentive to their abilities and needs. This information from you is helpful as they begin to get to know your child.

Will there be photos taken of my child?

On occasion photos of camp activities are taken and used on the Camp Website or Facebook page.  Please contact us If you would prefer your child not be included in any group photos.

What should my child take to camp?

Because our schedule varies everyday we have found it is best to be prepared! Campers should have a bag or backpack with them daily in order to keep track of the following items.

  • Swimsuit and towel – on days specified for swimming
  • Rain Gear
  • Sunscreen and bug spray
  • Lunch
  • Snacks – we know how growing kids eat!
  • Water bottle – we will help keep it filled during the day.
What should my child wear to camp?
  • Tennis shoes
  • Socks
  • Shorts/T-shirts
  • Light colored clothing
  • Sunscreen
  • A smile – and be ready to have fun!
What should my child leave at home?
  • Cell phones
  • Video games
  • Any electronic devices
  • Money (The only exception is that there will be field trips designated in advance where a small amount of money will be allowed.)
  • Things of value that could be lost
